nd it's black, so he presents the bad side. Marjane's grandpa works for the king which is on the dark side; therefore he's crown and clothes are black. The elephant works for the king as well, so it's black, too. However, her grandpa is on the good side, but works for the bad side, so he is surrounded by the black and white parttern. And the houses and trees are all controlled by the king, so they are black, too. The sun and the king are both watching Marji's grandpa, but the sun is shining to reform him, and the king is a lion with a knife to threat him. I think it's a interesting and meaningful picture, although there is no text. -Lucy
I remember talking to you about this panel. We figured out that the lion could be the Shah that tries to kill the Grandpa so that he isnt in the Shah's way to power. This idea connects with 1984, because people who are in the way of the Party to rule(people like Syme who are smarter, or just very rebelious like Marji)get killed like Marji's grandfather and like Winston and Syme, for example.
